Ingredients
  • 8 Large Apples

  • 8 Wooden chopsticks (for handles)
  • 1 can Sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup Butter
  • 2 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Light corn syrup
Making Caramel Apples
    Equipment
  1. Instructions
  2. Begin by bringing a large saucepan of water to a rolling boil. Gently immerse the apples into the boiling water for a brief moment, using a slotted spoon.

  3. Then, pat them dry with paper towels to eliminate any wax residue from their peels. Allow the apples to cool down entirely, which should take roughly 30 minutes.

  4. Next, insert sticks into the base of each cooled apple, securing them through the core to create handles. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.

  5. In a saucepan over medium-high heat, combine brown sugar, sweetened condensed milk, corn syrup, and butter. Bring this mixture to a boil while stirring continuously.

  6. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and continue to cook, stirring tirelessly to prevent scorching, until a candy thermometer reads 248 degrees F (120 degrees C). This should take approximately 25 to 30 minutes.

  7. To check if the caramel is ready, drop a teaspoon of it into a glass of cold water – it should form a firm ball. Remove the caramel from heat and stir in vanilla extract.

  8. With haste, dip each apple into the hot caramel, ensuring they are thoroughly coated, including about 1/2 inch of the wooden handle.

  9. While the caramel is still warm, you can sprinkle your desired toppings onto the apples.

  10. Allow the caramel-coated apples to cool on the prepared baking sheet for roughly an hour, taking care as the caramel remains very hot. Enjoy your delectable caramel apples with caution and delight!
